Launching a new certificate: E-learning Instructional Design and Development
One of my colleagues once said to me, “Good SEO is really just having good content.” This certificate is a models this principle perfectly.
I’d add that good content hinges on putting yourself in a customer’s shoes. In this case, adult learners want as much information as possible about individual courses that cost $400 or an entire certificate that cost nearly $2000. Therefore, each page contained:
• clear course titles
• concise course description
• cost and length of course or certificate program
• instructors and their biographies
• learning objective
• syllabuses
• testimonials and faqs (if applicable)
I created six pages on our website in total (one for the certificate and one for each individual course.)
For our unit, it generally took about a year to gain traction with enrollments in new certificate programs. Within one year of launching this certificate, we had a waiting list of students and the pages were some of our top most-trafficked pages on our site (see attached files). Nearly all of the students who enrolled indicated they discovered the courses or program through search engine, and then usually indicated Google.
